What are Dryvit Issues?

What are Dryvit Issues? Before we can cover what Dryvit issues are, we must understand the material. So, what is Dryvit?

Dryvit is a brand of synthetic stucco, which is a finish coat material that is applied on EIFS wall cladding. It increases durability and resistance to weather elements of an EIFS system. Thanks to its composition, it offers more flexibility, helping it withstand harsh weather conditions and other elements. It is also resistant to crumbling, fading, thermal expansion, cracking, and chalking.

Some issues are harder than others to detect, but all can have a severe impact on the walls of a home or other structure. Moisture in the walls is sometimes harder to detect because it is not immediately visible. This can lead to other, more serious issues later. The longer the issue is left un-checked, the more costly the repair. Other issues can include mold, mildew, efflorescence, or staining.

But with Cliff Kapson Consulting, you can get ahead of any Dryvit issues. Call 888-304-3437 and speak with one of our representatives. What are Dryvit Issues?

Identifying Dryvit Issues

We make identifying issues simple. Our team performs inspections and consultations nationwide. Helping clients be aware of any potential Dryvit issues within a current property, or a potential purchase. Potentially avoiding costly repairs or further damage in the future.

Depending on the needs of the client, we offer two levels of inspection. Level I includes the visual inspection of the Dryvit, checking for visible cracking, physical damage, or visual irregularities. We also check for evidence of mold, mildew, staining, and efflorescence.

A level II inspection checks for the same evidence covered in a level I inspection, but also includes an in-depth inspection of other details of the building. As a part of the inspection, a sketch is made. Where structural details are accurately noted. The sketch is used to record moisture readings collected during the inspection. This information is over-laid onto elevation photos included in the report. At the discretion of the survey professional, probe readings for moisture are collected.

Included with any type of inspection is an in-depth report outlining all findings resulting from the inspection. The report details the evaluation of any Dryvit issues observed as related to the overall performance of the Dryvit system. Included in the final report, clients will find:

  • Narrative report with a description of the problem(s), and if appropriate, recommended solutions
  • Photo log
  • Elevation photos, overlaid with moisture readings

When combined, our inspection protocols are designed to completely, and accurately, determine the condition of the stucco system. Anything less will not give an accurate or reliable overview of the condition of the system.
